Overcoming.....

Experiencing victory....

Overcoming means we’ve mastered or conquered. Victory means that we’ve defeated and won. But overcoming has no meaning unless we know what we have conquered, and victory is not sweet unless we know who or what we were fighting against.

Well, how about this? “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes THE WORLD. How big a deal is that? Well I’ll tell you, it’s big and here’s why: The world wins when it succeeds in hindering us from seeing, loving and serving God faithfully. The world wins when it draws us away from God.

The life of a Christian is a battleground and “the world” is our adversary. We may feel blessed and comfortable with the lives we have, but if we allow worldly influences to pull our minds and hearts away from God, Satan wins. God loses.

But I John 5:4 tells us that we have a mighty weapon to fight against the confusing ideals of the world – OUR FAITH! But how do we use this weapon to fight against the world’s attempts to question the teachings of the Bible?

We stand firm!

We stand firm in the knowledge that God is love and that He gave us His one and only Son. We stand firm in the truth that Jesus died for us on the Cross, was resurrected from death, and is now living and reigning from Heaven. And we stand firm with the comfort that the Holy Spirit lives in each believer and will help us overcome every scheme of Satan to draw us away from God.
