Our History
An ongoing story of God’s faithfulness
Beginnings
Faith Fellowship Church of Fort Bend began as Asian American Baptist Church on May 7, 1995 in the living room of Coleman and Judy Chong's house. The growing faith family quickly became too large to meet solely in the pastor’s house, so they began to search for a larger facility to meet in and continue to see where the Lord would lead.
In July of 1995, Quail Valley Baptist Church opened its doors for us to worship in their student ministry gym facilities. For the next 10 years, the church grew together and then in July of 2007, by God’s grace, Asian-American Baptist Church was able to purchase the building and land from Quail Valley Baptist Church.
A New Vision
In 2015, Asian-American Baptist Church was without a senior pastor and called Steve Suders, a consultant with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, to be the interim pastor. Under Steve’s leadership, the church was challenged to renew their vision for reaching their community and to put their “yes” on the table as their commitment to do whatever God called them to do.
Prayer and fasting were emphasized. People were reminded of God’s heart for reaching their city and the nations for Jesus. The church was coming back to the mission it was founded on, and there were big signs of revitalization. God was posturing the church for what was to come.
In a move of incredible faith, the church voted to change their name from Asian-American Baptist Church to Faith Fellowship Church of Fort Bend. As Houston is now the most ethnically diverse city in the United States, the church wanted to position itself to better reflect the diversity of its community and proclaim the diversity of the Kingdom.
Walking Boldly into the Future
After a season of preparation and reorganization, Faith Fellowship Church of Fort Bend called David Barrett as Lead Pastor in April of 2019. Pastor David immediately cast a vision for the church to engage the Houston area with the Gospel. Today, we are walking boldly into the future together as a healthy church to love God, love each other and love our world well. The story of Faith Fellowship Church has been a story of God’s faithfulness and by His grace, it is a story that is just beginning.
